Lovely macro, my friend, of the beautiful flowers of one of the north's familiar sights. I'd need x5 ( or something ) reading glasses to see this sort of detail. I have been acquainted with gorse, or 'whin' as it is known on the Ayrshire coast of Scotland, and in the Glens of Antrim and Causeway Coast of Northern Ireland, since I was a wee boy in short trousers. At that time I played hide and seek in the tunnels through the whin which overgrew my gran's field. Later on I helped stop its progress using a bill like polearm. I still like its rugged, no-nonsense attitude, but understand that many farmers can ill afford to even hold it at bay these days. Their hill farms are being reduced in area, year by year by this spiny beauty. Regards, John.

It's blooming here too in my neighborhood in the Seattle area; I like it, it's a nice change from the blackberry vines that are EVERYWHERE. And they're spiny too! Excellent capture!
