Description

Confusing title / picture isn't it?? Yes: this is a typical Holland-souvenir! No: we don't run around in these everywhere over here! Picture is taken in 'De Keukenhof' (which means something like 'garden of the kitchen'), the worldfamous gardens in Lisse (southwest of Amsterdam). My wife and I visited this top-tourist-attraction last week. And I have to tell you that I felt like a stranger in my own country. It was pretty crowded with tourists from all over the world (Japan, China, U.S.A., United Kingdom, France, Germany, Poland, Russia, Switzerland, Spain, Italy etc. etc.) You could hear some many different foreign languages that it was a surprise to hear someone speak Dutch... But I do have to admit that I understand why everybody wants to visit this place. It's a real beauty/pleasure for the eye (and that's an understatement!!) Maybe I'll post some pictures someday... These are a bit bright and gaudy. :-) The two pairs I had as a child were natural color with wood burning done on the top but very little. they were more practical wooden shoes my dad told me. Not flashy tourist things. This is a great bunch of tourist things. :-)
