Description
I haven not been around now for quite some time now. My life has just been spinning out of control. When I was at work the other day I caught a picture of this guy. He hung around the garden center for days. When it started warming up it started to move. That is when I snapped a bunch of pictures of this moth that was huge. Does anyone out there know what kind he is? Thanks for looking.

Not sure, I think it's called a Hawk Moth?...Either way up, it's a great capture, hope things work out for you and your wife!

Wow! This is a great shot of this marvelous specimen! What I actually know about moths could likely be written on the head of a pin, but I checked on Google and found some amazing sites that help identify. This looks very much like a CECROPIA moth, a silk moth, most likely Hyalophora Cecropia, (but no guarantees!) Well seen and captured!

Looks sort of like what used to be known as Samia cynthia, but it's been too many years since I paid attention to moth taxonomy (like 40). One of the giant silk moths. If it's that species, the caterpillars feed on privet.

Yes I agree probably one of the Cecropia moths which like Atlas moths can be huge and have the false snake head The larger antennae means it is a male
