Description

Hi all, Many many thanks for the previous favs, comments and crits on Katana, I really appreciate the support. This is for those of you who don't like motorbikes and appreciate a bit of muscle. I'm just having some fun with the whole HDRI lighting thing and different methods of implementing it. I wouldn't consider these finished normally but feel they look good enough. This differs from Katana in the fact, it's not a true HDRI render. It uses an HDRI probe I made and a photo wrapped on a sphere, with Vue grass for the base. I couldn't decide which one I liked best so here's a selection. Credits: The superb Muscle car is a freebie from Anders Lejczak (bazze) over @ http://www.colacola.se/map_1.htm The sky is the cracking BountifulKnights BK_KnightSky360 available here @ Rendo. The Grass is Linda Daireaux's wonderful Incredibly Lush Grassy Places! over @ http://www.cornucopia3d.com All the best and I hope you like them. Chris

Great lighting, you're way ahead of me on the HDRI track. The car looks great. As an audience member, one aspect of most of the high-end rendering that doesn't delight me as much is that I get the feeling like the subject is always in shadow, there is no direct lighting and so the featured object feels less important. In that respect, the three renders you've got here look really great and have a bit more 'ooomph' in the lumenins department. Look forward to future such experiments.

Hey- no joke here, no exaggeration- I opened this image up and thought I was looking at three photographs processed with different effects in Photoshop- I didn't even think of a 3D application as having rendered this- so.. you are onto something big my friend! This looks damn good and damned REAL!!

The second one is my favourite, the setting look more natural, shadows are softer, and the reflections are nicer. Excellent work in realism.

Top marks on realism Chris, my pick of the series would be the centre one, the whole scene oozes realism. Love that car. Excellent work mate! Did you see that Vauxhall Viva conversion on telly last week...9.4 litre engine, automatic gearbox, 0 to 60 in ONE second! and faster than Bugatti's latest showpiece!! I had a Viva years ago, a blacktop and that was some motor, never done 0 to 60 though lol!

A perfect example of realism with HDRI. Superb work Chris, incredibly realistic, the light is just right, it's not overdone & those reflections are spot on. Great choice of car & POV's!
