Coming up with some scenarios for an RPG that I g.m. for (let's hear it for all the other g.m.ing girls out there) I got sidetracked wondering about the implications of advanced AI in a "throw away" society.
Where do the lines of autonomy, sentience, and, yes, even life it's self lie? And how much pain will there be between it's emergence and it's recognition if it happens?
I decided that I honestly hope that it is a long time before we, humans, develop this, we're just not ready for those responsibilities as a society. Just look at some folks views on pets.
