This morning I wend to Alkmaar, to buy my book from the book sales club, It was the latest Tolkien copy: The tales of the Children of Hurin. And my camera comes as always with me. And here the most touristic building of Alkmaar. The Waag, One of the very few remaining weigh houses still in use is the one in Alkmaar, the Netherlands, where the Cheese Market still includes the weighing of the cheeses as a demonstration for tourists. Alkmaar's cheese market at the Waagplein, is one of the country's most popular tourist attractions. The cheese market traditionally takes place on the first Friday in April and the last market of the season is the first Friday in September. Every Friday morning (10.00-12.00 a.m.) the Waagplein is the decor of this traditional cheesemarket. The demonstration, which takes place in front of this medieval weighing house, is surrounded by many specialized stalls where it is possible to buy all kinds of cheese (and non-cheese) related products.
