Been an artist of various types pretty much all my life: pencils - paint - watercolors, mosaics of beach glass, writing 'stories', musician (first love), photography, software design. Started messing with Bryce & Photoshop a few of years ago and have gotten more involved with various 3D apps recently (Lightwave, Cinema 4d, Vue, etc). But my pictures, both rendered and captured, pretty much tell who I am. My bunny, Brenda aka JustAlice here, and I live in a little house out in the countryside of Indiana.

Fantastic work :) .. on both the image and quitting.

Don't know yet how you textured the ashtray, but it looks like the texture is from a pic of cigarette ashes, how appropriate. Great modeling.

Well, I miss it. I can't do it again unless I am diagnosed terminal, in which case I'm going out and buying a carton... Unlike you, I don't miss the zippo. I always thought they should invent the self igniting cigarette... I really like this image though. If I was smoking still, I'd want that ashtray! BTW, I might have given up smoking but I still collect ashtrays from around the world.

this is cool. got to have the zippo in case you need to start a fire to cook bbq in a park

The textures on the Granite ashtray make this render come alive, evenso your habit is dead and buried, good on you, Ken ! My guess is, Alice will be pleased. (unless she...?) Very realistic, you are excelling yourself, with every new design you come up with, maybe this is your new direction in life ! Keep it up. BB

No Alice doesn't, and yes, she is very pleased!

Very nice work. Cool texture in the ashtray.

Nice image, I love the lighting but the seams on the texture for the ashtray kind of detract from the realism a little.

Love the ashtray, I see loys of faces in there, maybe the ghosts of dead smokers, I don't know, but some of them look ugly. lol. Not smoked for twenty years now, used to smoke over 25 cigars a day, and inhaled every drag. Woke up one morning and told the wife I can't afford to smoke anymore, so I stopped just like that, she still smokes though. I don't mind her smoking it's when she leaves one burning in the ashtray I go mad. Excellent render, like the reflection in the zippo, I would also like an ashtray just like this one. Superb work, and well done on the stopping. Bravo!!!!!

I like everything about it - the modeling, the render, and the message. Simple but powerful.
