Description

So i managed to get it without any tourists in it... during the day!! Even had time to snap 3 exposures to get an HDR - bet you didnt think this was an HDR eh? :P Well - there we go, an HDR which doesnt hit the "hyper-realistic" barrier or doesnt have that "tonemapped" look, but just looks like a nicely exposed photo. There are tell-tales but i'll leave that up to you to judge. Enjoy! Rich (Think it was ISO 200, f/16 exposures to match (+/-2stops on AEB from "optimal" exposure) at 10mm. Tripod of course...)

Wonderful perspective and interesting that you mention the "typical" HDR application. I can see it does bring out the mid tones and thats good, it does not have to look "superficial" or over the top. Excellent work.

Looks nice. I read somewhere also that actually taking 3 EX works better for HDR than creating 3 from a single raw. Don't know how true that is, but does seem like this allows for a more subtle look. Wonder if the same settings in the HDR prog. applied to 3 diff Ex made from 1 RAW on this shot would look the same? I really dig the color in this one. Nice shot and post work man.

to the above (NightGallery) from experience creating several exposures from the 1 RAW can be useful but sometimes stretches the image and makes noise more visible, 3 (or more) exposures in the camera tends to work best imo. Rich - the only telltale I can see might be in the clouds having moved a fraction between the 3 exposures they have a slight sense of motion blur.. right? ;) I agree having experimented with HDR the best use is when it's subtle enough that nobody can tell for sure whether it is or not... anyway I think I commented on this on your FB but I reckon much better than the other hdr at night. peases

Very nice job on the HDR the skies look good and natural.. 16mm on the sensor gives those wacky converging verticles.. Oh for a tilt and shift lens.. Sigh

Superb photo! I agree with you, that this kind of HDR effect looks really good! And the house is beautiful aswell, of course! :)
