Description
I won't bore you with the five decade career of Carlos Santana. You either already appreciate his massive musical repertoire or you aren't a student of music originating from the last half century.
But I am.
To photograph this living legend, a long time hero of mine, was such a delight. I'm almost surprised any shots came out at all!
First time I saw Carlos was at a drive-in theatre (some of you may have to Google that!) with my big brother as we watched "Woodstock" (the movie). It had come out just a few months earlier. . . sigh. . . .
Leah says I should provide a date of reference here but screw that! Those who know don't need one. And those who don't, well, I'm surprised you're reading this deep anyway!
Whatever, this was taken last weekend at the Beale Street Music Festival here in Memphis Tennessee, the home of Rock 'n Roll. Yes, the home. No other place can say that! So Carlos paid his respects and came on home. And here he is.
More info on the Beale Street Music Festival can be found on my first post from the event, BSMF '08.
Thanks for stopping by!

Excellent shot of Santana. Fantastic expression, details and light. Brings back memories, now I have to hear his old record "Abraxas".

Great shot. Unfortunatly he has lost his roots and the feeling for good music. Fossy

To webmasterfossy. I can't imagine making such a dismissive statement! He definitely has NOT lost his roots. Have you heard anything beyond "Black Magic Woman"? However, he HAS expanded his musical horizons, as any competent musician would do. And "good music" is in the eye of the beholder. Change/expansion is a good thing, as Carlos continues to prove.

Oh, yeah, I remember drive-ins and that's also where I saw "Woodstock" for the first of several times!!! This man is genius, there's nothing he does I don't love and your foto is quintessential Santana!!!
