Description

It's been a long 3 weeks. 3 weeks ago yesterday my oldest son and some friends were pushing a disabled car off the street and they were rear ended by a drunk driver and they never saw it coming. All 3 that were pushing went to the hospital and thank God none had any life threatening injuries as it could have been much worse. The boy that was steering came out with no injuriesand he remained cool and called 911 as the driver of the other vehicle got out and starting yelling at the 2 lying in the street. One fractured 2 vertibraes in his back and the other broke both bones in his leg between the his knee and ankle and his foot was flopping around. My son in the middle and ended up still on the back of the vehicle and it was still in nuetral and was starting to roll backward, so he held it so it would roll back on his friends. He broke one bone in his leg in 2 places and almost ripped his calf off. My son is still in the hospital after 4 surgeries and with another sceduled for nest week. It was touch and go for awhile and there was a possibilty that he might lose his leg but he won't. They did remove more than 1/2 of his calf muscle and tissue in his leg. Last Mon they basically kick him out of the hospital because he had no incurance and the plastic surgeon didn't want to operate on him. They told him on Fri afternoon, so he was panicking all weekend, he still has an 8X2 inch cut in his leg that goes all the way to the tendon that they used for draining the fluid and large area of black dead skin. Of coarse there is no there on the weekend but we left many messages to hospital managment for Mon morning and had a meeting with them on our son's behalf. To make a long story short they gave him a wheel chair and when we took him to the County Outpateint Clinic they took one look at his leg and admitted him back into the hospital, so he's in good hands. This is an update to the few I told and I wnat to thank you for Ebots and prayers. It has been exhausting and my butt hurts from sitting all day in thise hard chairs...lol I haven't missed any of your artwork and they have brought me great comfort. I may not have commented on them all or they are short because my thoughts are elsewhere so I hope you forgive me. Thanks to you all!!!

Fantasic angle Steve... Sounds like your son had a real one at his side! I hope all goes well for him and his friends... and that the drunk gets what he deserves! I understand people who try to defend drunk-drivers, but the fact is no one takes responsibility for their own actions any more! Best wishes to your son, his friends and you!

My Lord Steve, how absolutely horrendous! I wish I had known, not that I could do anything, but give support. Our hospitals today are big business, forget the patient. It boggles my mind how people are treated. Thank goodness your son is now in good hands and he will be treated with the care he needs and deserves. He and his friends and you, will be in my prayers. Your image is a beautiful one and yes, they all had a guardian angel. It could have been much worse. Please take care and be safe, give your son a big hug and one for you. :o)

Drunk drivers should be treated as attempted murder suspects cuz that's how I see a jerk who drinks and then puts every single human on the road at risk to be murdered or mamed by their totally reckless action to try to drive. The laws should be tougher on them. First offense should be 1 year in jail mandatory and they should lose their right to drive ever again!!!! I'm really glad this situation was not worse!! I'm so sorry your son and your family is going through this. And, do not get me started on health care or lack thereof due to insurance and the struggle of people without. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!! I am praying for you all to heal and a speedy recovery to your son's injury!

Wonderful to see you post again Steve. A beautiful angel render. Maybe she was his guardian angel. I am truely glad the accident did not claim your son's life. Not everyone get out alive from drunken driver accidents. I really can't believe why people refuse to learn. It's often the same sad story over and over.. year after year.. When will they ever learn.

He is going to remain in my prayers Steve as you all will, this is such a terrible situation. You must be at wits end with all you've gone through and I can't imagine how your son has felt after what the hospital pulled. I can't believe how cold and heartless the hospitals and so called doctors have become in recent years. I'll also pray for God to give them a look into their souls to see what they have become and I hope that driver goes to jail for years for attempted manslaughter.
