Description

20080505: Couldn't get to the osprey today, but I was able to flagrantly violate the personal privacy of this red-winged blackbird. He came close to me to take a bath in the nearby inlet (pics I got, but obstructed by a clump of reeds). As he finished, he hopped upland a few feet to a spot to which I had access to dry himself off. Between the last osprey shoot and this, I think I've seen my -technically- best photographs yet.

I have a place to get shots of these birds but no shots yet this year. They are so beautiful and when the males puff up the wings the red shows and sometimes the yellow. Thanks for this photo of one of my favorite birds.
