Description

Here's my first attempt at Surrealism. I don't know what I'm doing, so, I am just going with the flow. I'm not sure if this will be the final of my Grief Series, but it feels like time to let it rest for now and see if there needs to be more later. The funeral was today and the outpouring of people who came to say goodbye was staggering. I was touched that people not only sent flowers, but they also brought potted prairie grasses to plant on his acreage. My ex, Steve, used to clean out his bluebird houses each spring. He's leaving a lot of holes in the world around him. Once when our parakeet fell ill, I held her in my hands. Just before she died she spread her wings and looked up into the sky as if she saw something beautiful on the horizon. I'll never forget that moment. And I'm taking that picture to bed with me tonight after trying to recreate it here. Again, this is best viewed in the full sized version. Sleep well all. Sweet dreams! Have a great weekend. What I used: Painter, PSP, Chaoscope, Daz Studio, Bryce Again, all comments and suggestions are always appreciated.

You most certainly went with the flow most perfectly! This is absolutely beautiful to look at, and admire! Electrifying and captivating all at the same time! The pose, or should I say "bow" is incredible, with such a remarkable design; allows the eye to imaginatevely wander and create multiple "visions" or images from single ones. Excellent artwork!

I think it´s a very touching and impressive image; such an intimate and glorious moment is hard to recreate, but you came truely closer. I think you found the key to deal with this moment: to go with the flow. Thanks for sharing this vibrant document of your soul with us.

High Flight Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth, And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds...and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of...wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up, the long, delirious burning blue I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace Where never lark, nor even eagle flew. And while with silent, lifting mind I've trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space... ...put out my hand, and touched the face of God. by John Gillespie Magee, Jr.

Surrealism is about conveying a philosophy or emotion in a means that allows people to understand feelings and ideas that can't be correctly put into words. Greef is likely the hardest emotion to speak, but when a work like this is presented, the feeling comes through with complete clarity. One can't let sorrow consume them, but when it fuels them, some of the most truely beautiful things come into fruition.

You don't need to know what you're doing when making surealistic artwork.. Most surealism is composed from the unsure. This is a good image because the idea of a Phoenix rebirth is a classical healing statement. Be well.
