Description
Aretha Franklin made a historical appearance at thie year's Beale Street Music Festival.
The Memphis born Queen of Soul vowed to never step foot in Memphis again after the assination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in April of 1968.
Last Sunday she performed infront of a sea of thousands young and old. Before she was through she had everyone raving and dancing to "Chain of Fools" and "Respect".
There would be no Maria Carey, Whitney Houston or Beyounce for that matter had Aretha not blazed the trail for them to follow and, I suppose, as small gesture of thanks that's why Mayor Harenton gave her the key to the city.
Now, that's a homecoming worthy of The Queen of Soul!
