Description

Spurn Point A three mile strip of land situated on the Yorkshire coast on the north side of the River Humber. This is quite a fascinating place for breakers, lighthouses and wild life in the form of birds.Downside is it is a long drive through pretty boring minor roads but worth the effort when you get there.Incidentally it isn't mentioned any where but you can actually drive to the end of the point, parking is a bit restricted so it should be a mid week jaunt. It costs three pounds to be on the point all day.just Thought I would mention all that for any guy's and girls who may venture there.Used to be much bigger but in the old days whaling ships would fill with ballast for weight before setting out to see and the dumping the ballast when they started hauling whales on board.I think one year they took 500,000 tons of ballast from there...that's when a halt was called to it.Hope you enjoy the info and the pic Eddie
