Description
Ca. 1977 found the pic looking for something else. During a drought The head tower, which was cut 100 ft. from the top is exposed 100 ft. A few sunken boats and human remains were found. The structure on the center top of the Dam is used to lift the "trash racks" to prevent debris entering the turbines.
Used to live in Project City now known as Lake Shasta City.

Excellent and unusual capture, also thought provoking, several questions spring to mind. I do not expect answers but they have to be asked. Why was the 'Head tower' cut off at one hundred feet? What is the other smaller tower? and why was that left behind? I notice a ring (semi) of floating bobbins that look like a net might be suspended from? Is this an exclusion zone for boats getting to close to the dam wall? I assume from the bottom left of the image you were onboard some sort of craft. It must have been some drought for the dam wall to be so exposed. I have a shot somewhere of a local dam with my daughter stood at the bottom, there was only about three feet of water at the deepest point, that was about 1996/7. Superb work and an interesting narrative. Bravo!!!!!
