Description

I spent years in the art department of FASA Interactive/ Virtual World, working on Battletech games-from the Battletech simulator pods to MechCommander and MechAssault. Consequently, I got really sick of 'Mechs. But recently, I was going through some advertising art I did for Virtual World when they brought out "Firestorm" at the Dave and Buster's arcades, and thought this one kind of stood out. This is mostly Lightwave, with some touch up in Photoshop. Yeah, I know, Vultures don't have jump jets. I just thought they looked cool. Thanks for taking a look!

Fascinating POV & camera position.....exciting poses. Wonder what they are shooting at!? A Full size Full on battle would be cool to see :)

I still have my Red Planet Velocity=Victory tie clip from the old Hazard Center Virtual World simulator arcade back in 1994.

Oh man this is just sweet!! I love how the light shimmers off of the surface of the craft and the blurred look depicts action very well as is the flame effect perfectly done!!

A good mech tech could refit a vulture with just about anything. Disposable jump pods would be something to get out of a bad situation in a hurry. Probably only fitted in a cityfight though. :) Excellent little image. Takes me back to the miniature game. I have hundreds of mechs in mothballs somewhere in my house. I really miss that game.

Firestorm certainly does stand out. Jump jets too, not seen very often. Excellent.

Death from above! heheh, ahh i miss the FASTA games and such. Id hate to be the tech that repaired it after a hard landing though. Course a full set of Lrm's flying at the opponents from above would be worth the trouble. Hey isnt that a Mad Cat in the background? I love those mechs too. Good render, lots of detail on the mesh. Are the flames Photoshop or HV's? Just asking. Lloyd

Thanks for all the great comments! Lloyd, The jump jet flames are volumetric lights, and, yes that is a MadCat back there.
