Belem with sails in front of the beach of " la concurence " ,optimist ,La Rochelle ,start to Quebec (8 May 2008)
In 1608, Samuel de Champlain (born at Brouage), father of the "Nouvelle France", crossed the Atlantic and founded the city of Quebec.
The "Grande Traversee de l'Atlantique" is just one of the many events for this 400th Anniversary organised on both a regional and national basis.

great shot.... the dinghies in front of the ship are optimist prams... i learned to sail in them. it brings back memories.
