Description

This is not the most artistic shot, but I wanted to show you the space behind North Falls. This is in fact a gap between two lava flows, and the ceiling is the bottom of the upper flow. I'll resist the urge to type a Geology course here, but if you're interested Google "Columbia River Basalt" for the story. This is a long exposure, 1 6/10 seconds, but I didn't use flash; all the light is natural. The white glow coming from the right is light from the waterfall itself. It was as bright as it was loud. LOL I hope everyone has had a great weekend. Thanks for stopping by and any comments.

I find this a fascinating and interesting shot. I didn't realize this was a gap between two flows. Very nice.

Fascinating! Not all photography has to be about beauty - I love to be educated, as well. Thanks for this image, and for the information. Cool!
