Description

Far more restrained than the 59 design, the 60 Chevy was still very Fifties. Polymodeled in Max, rendered in VRay. Thanks for watching.

This is the "You won't ever be satisfied with the look of compromise." that was intended to get you to let it go after three years and buy a new better look. The rear seems to go on from the 59 but the front is like a silk stocking bandit or a lady with her bun pulled to tight. Not really that bad but enough you have to compromise to say "I like the look. I want to keep it." I once applied a jury rig way of causing the secondary carburetors to open in a progressive way to overcome the failure of the vacuum diaphram on a thre carburetor 348 in a convertible version of his one. I was not yet ready to cure the worn and hard to shift light weight three speed. No money at all was spent, I think, to allow the three speed to continue with all those cubic inches. The four speed in the 1961 409 was a development of a heavy duty pickup transmission by a proprietary manufacturer. It really was also inadaquate for the new found torque and would lead to the "rock crusher" many years later. 65? You could always get Turboglide instead of Powerglide and slush along like a Buick Dynaflow. You've done it right. You gave it the look of a dandy and avoided the performance issues that make trading every year necessary.

Thanks for the replies! Well it looks 60s viewd from the front, but as it passes it is definitely 50s... Planned obsolescence. That's what made the "Motoramic" 55 Chevy look ancient history compared to this design, and in turn made the 60 Chevy look ancient history compared to the 63 Chevy, and so on. Great work. Good memories in a 1960 Impala. I had a girlfriend back in high school whose Dad had a red convertible '60. I remember in '66, travelling 240 miles back from the desert-like interior of our province in the back seat with the top down as we wound through the mountains to the open river delta where Vancouver sits by the sea. I don't think I saw my girlfriend's face for more than a few seconds at a time because her hair was constantly blown forward over her face.....didn't affect my crew-cut though. :>))
