Description

"Yawn.... I am so bored with these humans! Are there no rest for a tired old fellow like me?" I shot this image of this huge male lion in Thorny Bush Private Game Reserve in South Africa last June. We were on a night drive when we came upon this fellow - resting comfortably in the middle of the dirt road. He couldn't be bothered and seemed quite oblivious of us watching him intently. (We were actually waiting for him to roar... There were other lions close by calling and we were hoping he would answer!) Although this is not a technically good shot because of the lack of proper light, I was still pleased with the outcome. He was out of range of my flash and I had to rely on the spotlight used by the ranger. Thank you for visiting my gallery and for any comments you wish to make. Hugs, Carin xx

Wow, you caught this old guy perfectly Carin. I imagine it must be difficult to get a perfect (lighting wise) shot at night, Sig...

He sees you as a canned ready meal, he bust his tooth on the last one though so he is undecided on weather to open it or not. Lol. Excellent capture Carin, especially as you were using the spots for lighting. Bravo!!!!!

Even though he is just yawning instead of roaring,I still think it is a good idea to keep your distance.I would want to make him mad.A fine shot of this great cat.

Hehe! Great capture Carin! He looks like he really can't be bothered and I am reminded of "What big teeth you have' from Little Red Riding Hood:-) I can't imagine living in a place where you can get this close to these big beauties. I have been up close and personal with a cougar but this guy beats that!
