Born in Hilo, Hawaii and class of '66, I became very active in Barbells, Judo and love striking the heavy/speed bag. I've learned to Rollerblade and bike ride which is a very health sport. But time doesn't stop for anyone including for me. So my good friend Dave aka punaguy got me started in taking pictures. I'm having fun taking pictures especially hiking the mountains. I'm enjoying seeing the world thru your post on Renderosity. Mahalo and Aloha....Errol

I dunno. It looks pretty sturdy, but time has a way of wearing down mountains. Nicely captured.

such a very cool shot.

That's exactly the right explanation, Errol. It's tumbling that wears away the edges and corners. River rocks always end up round. I remember this place. I loved the orange flowers all over the hillsides, but I don't remember if I ever found out what they are. I remember this bridge looking quite sturdy, but nature has an infinite amount of time, and an infinite energy budget. Guess who wins?

Questions to ponder for sure, but as Dennis said, mother nature always wins ~~~Great foto!!

Dennis....Those orange/redish flowers.......would you believe African Tulips? They are all over the islands. Aloha

I notice the dark charcoal colored sand even more, not a color seen around here. Nice shot, Errol.

.:Properly cared for this bridge will last forever - when we go, the bridge goes, great shot:.

Great shot xx

Gorgeous shot. The rocks not only wear down through their own tumbling, but with other smaller rocks tumbling over them. :)

I've never been to Hawaii and probably never will but I have also never thought of rivers with river rock when I think of The Islands. It's sand I think of - course or fine...white, black or tan...mountains covered in lush tropical growth; water falling over cliffs onto boulders and into clear pools - but never has my mind found river rock there. How silly of me! I would think, though, rivers are pretty much the same everywhere. When they spill their banks with a rushing torrent of water, they take whatever is in their path with them...and if they don't get it the first time, or the second or third, that water will keep coming back full strength until it tears it all out and carries it away. Stellar shot to bring all this to mind... :-)

Wonderful capture. Good question to think about too.

Very impressive bridge and I think it will see you out. I love how you have captured the river.

Some rocks over here are not only round but smooth & flat, great for stacking!! excellent image Errol!!!! Aloha...

Interesting capture, Shark! I believe rocks are rounded because of their exposure to the elements, whether they be rain, wind, sand storms, waterflow, etc.
