Description

I delve into my photo archive for something to pose as DAZ is giving me a massive migrane. Enjoy! This is Morro Rock in Morro Bay, California's Central/South Coast. This was taken about a month ago when we took a little weekend trip. A little history: Elevation 576 feet. It is also called "the Gibralter of the Pacific" and is probably the most famous peak. It was first sighted in 1542 by Juan Cabrillo. At one time it was surrounded by water. Quarrying was responsible for its shape, and rock from it supplied the breakwater for Morro Bay. It is now protected home for the endangered Peregrine Falcon. Wind and water surfers, sun and sea lovers, locals and tourists love this almost prestine beach - very rarely do you see clumps of seaweed or mass piles of driftwood along the Morro Strand. And, while not a haven for shell hunters, it makes for a great place to have a picnic or just sit and watch the sunset. (c) 2008 Twilight Productions
