Description

Electric Locomotives similar to this one were used in the mines to pull the coal cars, in a chain of ten called a trip, to the main slope. from the side entries the cars were then attached to the cable or steel rope and pulled to the surface by a hoist. This machine was donated to the Roslyn Historical Society, Inc. By the Palmer Coking & Coal Co. Black Diamond, Wa. ( Also known to the old timers as mules )

Super looking 'mule' and history of it's use. I saw a similar machine near Nome, Alaska and wish I'd been a camera enthusiast then. Excellent capture.
