Experimenting with Bump & Displacement maps The Surrogate Wilum has been there for me for as long as I can remember. My first memory on emerging from my egg was of him smiling down at me. He’s been the only family I’ve ever known. Actually that’s better than what most young dragons get. Usually we are left to fend by ourselves so I guess I’m better off than most. By their nature trolls are very stubborn & a bit slow in the uptake. That’s been both good & bad. Good because he hasn’t gotten fed up with trying to raise a fire breathing creature in a wooden hut. Bad because it took him weeks to figure out that trying to wrap me in a blanket always ended up in a fire. Fire is pretty much a part of our daily life. Well, that’s not quite right. It would be better to say it’s part of every night. You see when humans or trolls snore the only result is noise. Loud & ear splitting maybe, but there is no chance of starting the sheets or mattress or even the walls on fire like when a dragon starts snoring. Probably the best part of troll stubbornness is that once you have troll’s love & loyalty they’ll be on your side come hell or high water so all in all, life with Wilum is pretty good.
