Description

Taken Saturday May 24th 2008 East Lancashire Railway 1940's War Weekend. Me and JeffG7BRJ had another day out, this one is only 4 or 5 miles from where we live. The EAST LANCASHIRE RAILWAY UK. runs STEAM TRAINS from Bury through to Ramsbottom and on to Rawtenstall. This is a return journey and some trains also run to Heywood. Taken Today Saturday May 24th 2008. I took a few days off from Render to re-group my brain cells lol.

I missed this shot Alan, taken from the end of platform 1, I do notice however, this is the Dambuster Raider, they must have been getting it ready to roll, as you can see there is no nameplate on the front of it and only one lamp. I thought that name plate looked new. Lol. I had a great day but I'm paying for it now, my legs are four inches shorter and I ache like hell. I'm up for another visit tomorrow though(I don't think so!). Superb composition and excellent postwork, it really does look circa 1940's. Stunning! Bravo!!!!!

Great shot, but that is an unusual-looking engine to be 100% British in design.

This engine was from the USA,it had a metal plate on the side with inscription reading - LIMA Locomotive works incorporated, LIMA, OHIO-USA June 1945.
