Description
It is Memorial Day in the U.S.A. Non-political...just a day to pay respect to the fallen soldiers/patriots.
I am sure that every country has their own versions of this holiday and I'd be interested in knowing about them.
Image taken at Arlington.

I just mentioned in my post about visiting the largest WWII cemetery of American soldiers in Manila. no matter the country the soldiers leaves family behind and children with the loss of a parent excellent capture

Thank you for sharing it with us. Your photo evokes a quiet sense of respect and reverence. The uniformity of the stones, set neatly in lines, always brings to mind image of men standing up for review. You did an excellent job capturing the contrast between white and black, and the weathering on some of the stones conveys their age. I’m particularly impressed with the angle and height with which you took this shot. You simultaneously conveys a sense of intimacy and space. Very well done.

A perfect photo for Memorial Day. A sobering tribute to how many have given their lives in the name of their country--wherever that country and whatever time period that may be. The contrast, weathering and the black and white is lovely.

Arlington is one of the most moving places I think I have ever visited. You can not go there and not be changed, in some way. Thanks for sharing this photo.

Just being there three weeks ago it changed me, to think that there are almost 300,000 graves there. With my son getting ready to be deployed to Iraq this means a lot more today than any other memorial day. Thanks for sharing your picture.
