Description

several years ago I had the opportunity to visit the Manila American cemetery in Manila Philippines.I was in awe of so many graves of soldiers.yesterday I found out that it holds more soldiers from WWII than any other-more than 17,000 graves.it was my first time to view a military cemetery and I had a huge lump in my throat coming to the realization of the huge sacrifice.one can hear in school,on radio, and tv but seeing in person puts a whole new light on the tragedy of war this is a hover fly and it is less than 1 inch long.thanks for viewing and any comments

A beautiful and educating picture. One can see the wings moving on the pictures. And a very beautiful tribute to those which gave their lives for others. I can't say i know all the american memorial days. But i think to days is memorial day for dead american soldiers. Mina wrote something about that somewhere if i remember. I always thought that.. every war is one war too many though. But unfortunately a few wars is and was needed i must admit.

many of the graves then were unknown soldiers richard as my grandfather use to sit and tell me stories of it all the time it was all so sad I use to cry and he was always surprised that at a young age I was so taken by it perhaps that what made me want to become someome to help people so I got into nursing later on" A wonderful dedication and I do pray for them and families all the time:

Fabulous shots all Richard! Interesting creature, don't think I have ever seen one...Lovely sentiment and yes very different when seeing something like that in person. I saw the aids quilt and was profoundly touched at the loss and I can only imagine to see a military cemetery.
