Description
Nikon 7900 pocket camera - hand held images.
This little spider was probably hatched last fall. When full grown, it will be 3 or 4 times bigger.
This is one of my favorite spider species for a number of reasons.
...They usually live their entire life on or near a single plant. This makes them easy to re-visit.
...They are great hunters. They do not build webs but stalk and capture prey as big or bigger than themselves. That makes for neat pics, lol.
...They are not skittish. They hold their ground unless very threatened. That makes it easier to take pics.
...They are very colorful and it varies depending on age and breeding status.
...They build unique eggs cases and guard them until (and even after) hatching.
