Description

Wood Ears is is a type of fungus (say mushroom like) that grows on decaying wood. The Chinese use these in food and it can be quite good. This is something else, some very tiny fungus on an old fallen branch of a silver maple tree or some sort of lichen symbiotic fungus/alga thing. The one in shaper focus is 7mm across. I like to see the little things..so much is missed when we do not look closely. This is a blown up crop of a close, close up, not a true macro originally. Good for my imagination in such a tiny world. : ) Converted to grayscale with slight grain.

Isn't it amazing that so many fungi and plants look so much like plants and critters from the ocean? This is one Is much like a type of coral I have pieces of. Excellent shot!
