Description

This dedication is for Ilona or best known to everyone as Ladonna and is something I was so proud to be able to do. Ilona is such a wonderful and sweet lady, so full of fun and kindness and always manages to show a smile. She's been a true friend to me during rough times for both of us and I keep her in my prayers. I think Ilona is a Angel for all of the lives she touches and the smiles she brings and this is my little way of saying thank you to her. Ilona really is a wondeful story teller and can remember her childhood stories so perfectly and bring them to life. This is one she shared that really touched me because of the family theme and the love you could feel in reading her words. What Would Be (For Ladonna) : Ilona's passion for art, the stars and the beauty in the world was given to her by her Mother Laura. She taught Ilona and her brother Georg to respect every form of life and made a strong impression on them. During the hot summer their Mom would gather up pillows and a few items they might need and take Ilona and her brother out to the beautiful garden pavillion. She would spread the pillows out to make room for them all to lay back with their pets and they would have a picnic of sorts. As night approached their Mom used to play a game with them that Ilona loved so much. It was called (What Would Be) for instance what would be if the sky was green not blue, if fish could fly. This was really such a wonderful and creative game for the kids to share with their Mom. Then as the sky would grow even darker and the stars would start to appear their Mom would teach them about the universe. Telling them the names of the stars and planets in the night sky as Ilona and Georg looked upward truly inspired. To me this is one of the most beautiful family moments that their Mom Laura provided for them and as you can tell it has stuck with Ilona to this day. Hope to give some smiles. Wonderful work Dave. And a very nice tribute and appreciation to Ladonna(Ilona)too. It makes me think.... What a wise mother... getting wisdom into her childrens heads by playing a game. A game to develop their imagination.... That is the most fun and most efficient way of education. Becuase that kind of wisdom stays in your head forever. Very creative and wise woman that mother. And teaching respect for all living beings is amazingly wise too. Too bad that kind of wisdom and parental education is getting close to extinction.

Gorgeous use of colors in this image, the bright fun clothing in contrast to the background. A subtle way to draw even more attention to your delightful characters. A beautiful illustration to Ilona's childhood :)

Very touching story Dave! Great scene, and I love the game! How lucky she was to have such an inspired and loving mother that gave them such a great gift! I shall have to tell you the story of my brother and I on the farm...for another time, if you recall I was mother for my sister and brother when mother was lost in deep depression. I so enjoy the stories people tell you of time spent with their parents, thats a piece of life I missed out on so its wonderful for me to feel what they experienced! P.S. Before I forget, I hope Veronica is doing better!?

What a wonderful world of magic Laura gave to her children, not only in the joy of make-believe, but also in the enchantment found in the night sky. Beautiful memory and excellent telling of it. You have captured the night magic excellently in your image! I love that Laura's face has the same wonder of her children. Though she is not so wide eyed as they, you can see that the beauty reaches deeply down into her soul. I love the closeness of the group. The three are made one by their mother's touch. Beautiful composition! You have captured the joy of their own little corner in a lovely place. I like the cat (of course). He looks like he's dreaming and any moment that leg will start to twitch. Excellent image, story and dedication!
