or bougainvillaea �(both: b��gnvĭl�ē) [for L. A. de Bougainville], any plant of the genus Bougainvillea of the family Nyctaginaceae (four-o'clock family); chiefly tropical American woody vines with showy petallike bracts, usually in shades of brilliant red or purple. Bougainvilleas are classified in the division Magnoliophyta, class Magnoliopsida, order Caryophyllales, family Nyctaginaceae..... What they don't tell you here is that this vine has WICKED thorns....they shred you and sting for long time...great for a fence around you property keeps undesirables out....I'm very cautious when I prune it......and there are so many colors of them...and the colors are as vibrant as you see here...I haven't done anything to this shot...virgin right outta camera..... and thanks everyone for grand reception of SUNRISE WALK ON PIER.....I posted it cause it caught my eye but wasn't sure if it would interest anyone else..THANKS..PEACE...G
