Description

I never talked that much (Not counting The endless babble, Chatter inside) Let's have a smoke What's inside Burning tiny holes In my shirt and brain The chatter falls silent Endless landscapes emerge I'm no longer anywhere I'm Paul's "Fool on the hill" Seeing very clear, very far Fragile arms sticking out Beneath a pile of concrete Fluffy crying children's toy Our camera on the world Spotting two Arab kids Stabbed, kicked, punched By orthodox Jewish boys I spot the end everywhere Look into this human ant pile All serving, slaving, kneeling Before a queen or perfect lie You need blurred eyes of pain To see with a frightening clarity That the sense of this life Has no sense at all I'll light another smoke Have another think With no sense at all One can at least be sensible Enough About my reality Billions of views on this world Must lead to survival, conflict Pogrom, progress, peace Incomprehensible riddle I will lay myself down now And let it all come down Be what it may I'll know the way To the exit By heart ---------------------------------------------- thank you so much for reading and any comments you might have. Dirk

I am breathless. Not realizing I was doing so, I held my breath all the way through. Your writings have that effect on more than just me I am sure. You are unique and I thank you for sharing this with us. Bunny

Intensely emotive; powerful writing. A beautiful image for contrast. I wish I could write something to offer you some hope, Dirk. I haven't any idea of what you're going through, so I won't pretend to know how you feel. I hope that in the midst of all your angst you will find some comfort and peace in knowing that you have been and are loved..and that you have seen where beauty lives- in animals, in people, in nature..understandably in moments when the pain wasn't an overriding factor. I do believe with all my heart that there is a Light at the end of the proverbial tunnel, Dirk..and my prayer is that you will be warmed by and enveloped in that pure love as you leave this frail existence behind. Peace be unto you, my {{{{{{friend}}}}}}}, now and forever.

You need blurred eyes of pain To see with a frightening clarity That the sense of this life Has no sense at all Amen

I find that what you are writing now affects me in ways that I cannot adequately respond to. It is personal and it is impossible for me to express. I am still here. Still looking. Still reading and still praying. I know you don't believe, so I think it is for me.

Maybe you'll find some sense in the riddle of life by heart as well, but at least you have seen the beauty of life too

"You need blurred eyes of pain To see with a frightening clarity That the sense of this life Has no sense at all." --This is an incredibly profound (and exceptionally wise) stanza here. All too often, we need something that pushes us through the "veil" and all-too-often it is pain, but the good thing there is that when things are so incredibly bad, Humans are often at our best. There is no sense to life--or death for that matter--but I think that the lesson there is also an illustration that with no sense, there is no responsibility to anyone other than ourselves. There is no sense to life and living, becuase it's up to us to define what is sensible. This is the ultimate expression of human freedom, and we forget that, regularly, or we outright reject it becuase of our willingness to be slaves to reasons not our own. We sometimes ascribe this "reason" to a deity of some sort, but I think that any kind deity would simply say to us: "Things don't make sense because it's up to you to determine what sense is." I love that sentiment and I live my life by it. Thank you for sharing these words--all of them, and as always, I'm happy to see your posts.

In whatever way we make a difference, I hope my view (one of billions) spreads connection rather than division. It's all I can do. I have no influence over boys killing each other on the other side of the world, but I can be kind and loving and funny and helpful right here, and hope those I touch will spread it around. Thanks for the train of thought this morning! A few lines of commenting doesn't quite convey the fact that I sat here for a good 20 minutes writing and re-writing as I thought about what you'd said.

What a beautiful picture! I wish it would be bigger. :) What a wise and touching poem. Thanks for sharing! There's something positive in anything, even in bad experiences. May it be just for appreciating all the things in life again that we usually take for granted. Look at all the little wonders in this world with the eyes of a child. Live from one day to another absorbing as much beauty as possible. Believe me, all your friends are by your side no matter what happens. You're very special to many of us.

exquisite little spiral, reflected beautifully. Much like life, it's our reflections that stay, they are memories of us. Over time the memories become a little "shimmered", like the spiral reflected in water. The world is filled with good and evil .. and hopefully the good over-rules the evil.
