Description

There is a lone great egret in the N. Chagrin Reservation in Cleveland, OH along with the blue herons. It minds its own business and quietly fishes. They are hard to photograph because of the glare of the white feathers. I read that the great egret’s black legs distinguish it from the white heron which has the lighter legs of the blue heron. The great egret is generally found in Florida. I wonder how he came to be in Ohio.

A very nice photo. Yes, their whiteness does make it them a challenge and here in Florida we are lucky to have so many!
