Description

Nikon 7900 pocket camera - hand held image. This is one of the Argiope spiders, and there are several species of them. They are commonly called Garden Spiders. I think this is a young one and has not obtained it's adult coloration. It definitely has a "Horse Head" , lol. This is also the last of the Spider images for this week. Tomorrow, I will start a weeks' worth of various Reptile images. Thanks to those who take the time to comment. Lee

So interesting! The only one we have is A.bruennichi, the Wasp spider, which has recently arrived here from mainland Europe. I have only seen it once, by the cliff at the beachut, and had no camera with me. That's when I decided to always carry it!

I have never seen a head like that on a spider before Lee, very strange looking, whats with the zig-zag? Is it something that has blown onto the web or is it a repair job. It looks a bit thick for part of the web really. You never cease to amaze me with the different species you have on that piece of land of yours. Are you absolutley sure that space ships don't come visiting you? Lol. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!

Lee this is great. I often wonder what sort of spider has made that zigzag web in the garden. What a wonderful capture!
