I am 58 years young, live in Johannesburg, South Africa and I'm a true product of my continent. I love the bush, the animals, sunshine, sunsets - oh well, anything to do with nature. I am unmarried and have three sons - 37, 33 and 30 respectively and three granddaugters aged 12, 6 and 4 respectively and obviously the light of my life! Photography has always been a passion and I have loved it since I can remember. I was still using a SLR camera and only switched to digital only in late 2007! My other passion is travel and I have been lucky enough to have travelled fairly widely. There are however still many, many places I would love to visit "one day." I am truly an amateur photographer and do it merely as a hobby. So please be gentle when you comment on my work. :-) Thank you Piet, my dear friend, for convincing me to place my work on Renderosity. You owe me one! Hugs, Carin xx

The light on this web is really good. Oh, and all spiders are poisonous, it's just a matter of how it affects us. These ones are very widespread as their babies travel the winds on fine threads of silk and have been found frozen in the upper atmosphere. We either have the same ones or very similar ones in Australia and they get quite big.

Very well captured and a fresh angle on the spider usually sitting (hanging?) upside down. It's the golden orb web spider and quite harmless.

Wow, that is a great shot! Amazing clairity even from a scanned photo. I would be surprised if something this colorful was not poisonous. Many times nature seems to mark the poisonous things with bright colors. Sometimes though mother nature just colors something brightly to scare off preditors because they will think it to be dangerous. Either way... I would not want it crawling around in my bed at night!
