Esta imagen es muy antigua.
La obtuve con mi vieja Konica TCX recien comprada. Estaba iniciandome en fotografía y acepte una oferta de pelicula para diapositiva que me hizo el vendedor.
Ese dia aprendi dos cosas: la importancia de usar película apropiada a la luz que tengamos y sobre todo a desconfiar de las ofertas de película y reveladores.
Me vendieron película para luz de Tungsteno, de aqui su dominante azul.
Fue obtenida en el Cementerio de San Isidro de Madrid a finales de los 80, en una soleada mañana de primavera.
Recuerdo incomodidad al enfocar, desasosiego, una vaga aprension, que me hizo cerrar la sesion por este dia. Me parecio una imagen perfecta de la muerte, mas que la Virgen Maria, a la que ella representa, por la mutilación del rostro (puede apreciarse aun un enorme taladro bajo su ojo derecho).
Por la mala calidad de la luz, hasta hace unos meses, permanecio olvidada junto con todas las del carrete que escanee, y modifique los errores de iluminación en PSP.
Alli surgio la sorpresa: En ningun momento yo recuerdo haber visto esos ojos clavados en el objetivo!. Tampoco he visto nunca estatuas de piedra con incrustaciones de ojos de vidrio (en madera es frecuente en la iconografía religiosa catolica). Puede ser efecto de la película?....Que puede ser?.
Aun me produce desasosiego. Os envio el original sin retoque alguno (pueden apreciarse las motas de polvo y fibras del objetivo). No tiene mas manipulación que el escaneado, y en la diapositiva original tambien aparecen esos ojos!!!!.

photographic lens!. Nor have I ever seen stone statues with inlaid glass eyes (wood is common in the Catholic religious iconography). It may be the effect of film ?.... What could be?.
Still gives me unease. I am sending the original without any retouching (can be seen the specks of dust and fibres of target). It has no more manipulation that scanning, and slide in the original also appear those eyes!!!.

Que foto tan apasionante, ¿porque la habrán mutilado así? que extraña historia se tejerá en las entrañas del tiempo y el espacio. Mi imaginación vuela.... Gracias por ella y si tienes razón es probable que sea un retrato de la huesuda.... Un abrazo Juan.

Yeeeaaaa, that's a little unnerving to look at. Kind of gives you a cold shiver. I've seen glass eyes used in a few statues in cemetaries, but it is very unusual indeed, but not entirely unheard of. There is something holding to the mythos of the eyes being the window to the soul. I know in some ancient cultures (Greek/Roman and Egyptian) glass eyes were used frequently in statuary. When ancient tombs and statues were defaced, the glass eyes were shattered so that the spirit in them (or the soul of the deceased) could not haunt or place a curse on the defiler. This is an incredible capture, regardless and DEFINATELY creepy in how the eyes certainly seem to have a life in them. Spooky!

jodé que miedo, una estatua que mira, deberías volver al lugar y fotografiarla otra vez si es que sigue allí. Es interesante ver como un pedazo de piedra parece tomar vida, única y exclusivamente por un pequeño redondel blanco encima del negro ojo. Yo que no veo ni quiero ver cosas sobrenaturales en ninguna parte, lo que si observo en la foto es una lección artística, especialmente para retratos. Entre nosotros yo utilizo mucho el dichoso puntito blanco en mis retratos, depende de donde lo coloques el alma del personaje aparece o no. De esta forma puedes hacer que hasta una rana te mire de forma inteligente.

Realmente curioso, en primer lugar ese rostro mutilado solamente con ojos, y luego esa mirada demasiado real, desde luego no es habitual ponerle ojos a las esculturas en piedra, pero bueno, ha habido épocas en las que se le añaden calabazas en el interior de los cristos para que sangren, tampoco sería muy raro, de todas formas sería interesante ver la escultura actualmente.
