My name is Tony Shaw and I have been working for a UK Bank since I left school in 1983. I have spent from 1990 working in their IT department as a software developer. With the threat of redundancy hanging over me next year, and having written a web-site for my Dad, I decided to train myself up in web and graphic design and as a result found Renderosity.
The graphic tools I'm using in my spare time are Adobe Photoshop, Bryce, Apophysis, Terragen and Vue ... I don't have any particular favourite as they all have their good and bad points.
I have not posted some of my very early works as they are quite basic and would not look out of place in comics, however I hope you will take time to browse through my gallery so far and any comments, whether good or bad will be greatly received as they will keep me motivated and hopefully improve my designs.
Happy rendering.

Nice strat (I assume...). The neck on this one is rosewood or ebony. The one in your picture is maple. Two guitars? I love guitars and guitar art work. This one is very original and a great concept. Well done!

space is the place...for guitars! Very imaginative work.

Excellent composition, very original concept and render !... I didn't know you were a musician too. I sometimes play my black Fender guitar, but it's been in competition now with my synths for many years, I should do something about it then :-)

yes! I love art that consciously looks like a different art. It does look like a film strip section, but it's of course wholly a dig. painting and has a vividness that true acetate wouldn't have—so it's both. (This is a favorite territory of mine.) I love the juxtaposition, and love your 'formal print' between frames...But also, I'm a musician, and though I studied piano, I understand the love of one's guitar. (Kinda hard to get a Grand floating out in space!) It's fitting you made an homage to your instrument. You also filtered it nicely to bring out its shimmering edges...I love the play of this image, it's lighter than a lot of your work, but has you all over it (spacious, use of color, sweep, fine detail, etc.) And it's nice how the preceding and proceeding frames are very different from the main one: That wouldn't happen in normal film, which makes this a lot of fun, and makes us wonder "what did he have in store for us in the next frame...wonderful work, lots of fun too...
