They do look like the spiraled horns of unicorns. I also think of ice, twisted in the wind, frozen high and spilling over icicles.

Everybody beat me to it - including yourself. The thumbnail shouted "unicorn" so I'm crestfallen to find the thought pre-empted. Still, a unicorn doing a cartwheel might be a fun image - provided the horn can be prevented from digging into the ground (nasty!).
