Description
DAZ Studio and Paint Shop Pro 7.
The two new minarai of Iwamoto okiya, Tomoyo (in white) and Tomoyue (in green). Tomoyo (aka Hibari) belongs to "fuyouhime" and Tomoyue (Mehina) is mine.
They each have their minarai at the same time in February.
Minarai vs. Maiko
There are differences in maiko and geiko kitsuke, that is, the way they wear their outfits is different.
- Maiko and geiko wear a red "momi" under their obi which is visible at the bottom like in this picture. However, minarai do not wear this; instead that have an "ohashori" which is a fold in the kimono under the obi.
- Maiko kimono have a tuck in the middle of their sleeves. minarai do not have this mid-sleeve tuck because their sleeves are already pretty short (shorter than what maiko wear but longer than others).
- Minarai obi tails only go down half the length that a maiko's obi does.
