courthouse opened in 1896. seems politicians has always been ready to splurge taxpayers money.it is a beautiful building however thanks for viewing and any comments

Greetings from Texas City, Texas. Thanks for sharing some of our state's historic architecture with the world. I must respectfully point out however that this is a Court House and the grand architecture is meant to raise the level of awareness of the people to the importance of the rule of law in a democratic society. This building does not glorify any politician but rather lends significance to the justice system under which we are all innocent until proven otherwise and judged so by our piers. Infrastructure comes and goes. The rule of law in a Democratic Society endures. This is the message in the architecture.
