Description

(PLEASE FULLSIZE for a proper view if it doesn't come up like that in the first place) Hey people, hope you had a good weekend.. I must have had just about the most action-packed 24 hours imaginable travelling about 400 miles, raving like a loon for hours, sleeping 2 hours in my car before driving home in stints for a bit of shuteye, quite an adventure with a few memorable stories which I'm not going to share here! ;) All I can say is that despite trawling the coast of the lock for a few hours in the middle of the night I didn't see any sign of 'Nessie' and my bed is looking mightily inviting right now having just arrived back - there's a pretty high chance that's where I'm going directly after posting this image! I'll catch up on comments etc later in the day.. Today's shot comes from my recent short trip to Gleneagles in Perthshire, Scotland. In all, the weather was a lot better than some other times I'd been there but the clouds didn't really lift during that time and I just had to get a shot or two in of the lake as I found it to be too scenic to pass up. So I walked round looking for a decent vantage point and decided that single shots just didn't do justice to the serenity of the scene. Panorama, I thought.... then decided, in for a penny, in for a pound, why not attempt a panorama in HDR for the first time? So I did =) Originally it was about a 180 degree shot, but it was only by the 4th frame out of 21 that I realised I'd forgotton to shift the camera into manual, and unfortunately had to cut the bank from the left of the shot, dropping the first 3. Still, the shot is comprised of some 51 photos when you consider it was stitched from 17 separate HDR images. I'm coming to find the technique quite useful when the weather's not the best and you don't have time to wait for the light - adds a bit of drama to the clouds in my opinion... anyway I just love this lake so was quite prepared for the effort involved in making this shot =) Hope nobody minds having to scroll for the full effect... Adam
