Description

Thanks in advance for anyone who drops the name of this. I call it Purple Dragon because it lives behind a garden statue of a dragon. It's short and grassy, flowers are no bigger than your fingertip, and blooms all summer. The flowers are very translucent; had to get the morning light to show the cool inner illumination and shadows.

As Tara says, Campanula persicifolia. I used to have a dozen Greek tortoises and they ate mountains of these every day as well as every posssible veg and porage. I had them for 40 years, and some of them now live with a friend whose cheif passion is these reptiles. A beautiful macro.

This is an incredible capture of a remarkable, and most delightful species of flower! You've certainly caught and made perfect use of the morning light.... not too bright, and not overcast... but just right to set the most perfect tone and mood. What a beauty! Fascinating how it maintains such stature and composure... as silly as that may be to say, but it's just heavenly to look at... Splendid texture and the lilac colour is supreme! A great photograph, as always! :)
