Description
I have previously done a few visual tributes to great artists such as Antonioni, Bergman, Marceau, Josephine Baker and so on. But somehow they were distant in time and space.
It´s the same with Valerie; the difference is that I had the opportunity to stablished a frienship with her based on a mutual respect as artists, and as persons as well.
I was terribly shocked when I knew she has passed away a couple of days ago from a heart attack; I didn´t know how to react; I still don´t know.
A close friend told me to express my feelings in art. I don´t think I could ever really express what this loss means to me.
Anyway, I tried to compose this image. And tried to create an image she would laugh about. Never met her in person, but this is the way I´ll always remembered her.

I had to read your words twice to realize and accept this terrible news as a fact...I am stuck for words and will message you soon once the shock is passed. We had been on a constant mail-exchange over the past few months, and even after her leaving Renderosity, for reasons she was delicate enough not to mention in her gallery but that I know of. I was thinking all the time about her last week and had promised I would write to her. She was living only an hour's drive from home and I was looking forward to meeting her in real when she was through with her photography course and workshop sessions...For now, I'll just say she was a real artist, not someone greedy for comments and following a foolish personality cult, she was ready to give advice anytime of the day and night about this wonderful art of photography,( I remember exchanging mails with her way after everyone's beauty sleep!). For some people here she was a diva, for me she was unique, immensely talented, by turns down-to-earth and ethereal, and I owe her a lot for her inspiring and magnificent photography...I can't even realize I am writing about Valerie using the past tense...Thank you for this superb tribute to Valou and informing us here.

Me he quedado sin palabras, estos meses he estado alejada de todo esto por problemas familiares y este último mes aún más... Me apena mucho esta noticia, no te puedes imaginar cuanto, Danilo... So sorry to hear this. Valerie was also a help to me when I first started here. I had wrote to her asking a question and she was so kind, she wrote me write back, said she would be more than happy to help me, and the next day sent me a file with complete intructions on what I had asked her. I believe I still have that file if any one would like to also have it. Beautiful tribute to this beautiful and kind talented women.

Since I'm fairly new here, I didn't know her, but I do appreciate your tribute and your loss. It's a lovely image. I'm glad you've turned to art to express yourself during this difficult time.
