Hello everyone,
noticed this shocking news from Roby today.
I did not know Valerie as good as a lot of you did I guess but we sometimes wrote and it is hard to realize that such a young person is not here anymore!

I didn't know her very well either, but I still miss her. Fairness just doesn't enter into life; so many people die before they've really lived, and although it happens all the time it still stings, still feels wrong. But unlike alot of people who die young, Valerie left behind a substantial amount of lovely photographs that will be here a long time. I like the idea that people can live on, in a way, through their work and the ripple effect their influence on others produces. As for the photo, it's amazing. The interplay between the clear colors of the flower in the foreground and the desaturated background flower is almost poetic. This is a beautiful tribute, which is a hard thing to do without being trite and schmaltzy.
