Description

morning all :o) well this shot came close to what i was trying to achieve with motion and reflection ,only because i was facing away from the sun .i did some homework and found out that to cut the light out i needed a polariser and a neutral density filter on the camera which would of took out 5 stops of light which then would have given me the quarter to half a sec exposure i wanted so i will be going back :o)..i spoke to one of the drivers who told me a non stopping train will go through here at upto 100 mph .no wonder your told to stay away from the edge .the train captured here was a virgin voyager 220 dmu heading north ,which is just diesel not electric thanks for looking and take care mick

Really cool shot! We saw a high speed train while waiting at the station at Villefranche, it was a little scary being on the platform when it rushed by.

Great shot capture Mick. No wonder I could never finish reading the station names on those stations the trains didn't stop. You could feel the slowing down motion but it sipped through these stations too fast to be able to read the sign, especially since the field of view I had was fairly narrow. I have attempted two ways to show motion. 1) was leading the aircraft during the landing. That way the aircraft is sharp, but the background is slightly blurred-I think the RF-101 I posted a couple of months ago was done that way. 2) Hold the camera still and create a blur of the aircraft, or in your case, the train. That one is more difficult. I tried it during a Formula I race and failed miserably. Have a nice day Mick, Sig...

Well, personally I can't see anything to improve, but this isn't what I do, so what do I know? :) If you wanted speed and reflections, I think you got it down cold! Awesome image!
