Description

Mid-afternoon cumulus build up during summer months over the Annam Cordillera north of DaNang, VietNam. Often these clouds drifted toward the coast and resulted in brief, heavy thunderstorms. This picture was taken during final approach from the north on a C-118 to DaNang AB in July 1967 and a polarizing filter was used. It was taken as a slide, a print was made in 1969, and the print was scanned in 2004. Thank you for viewing and commenting on my recent uploads, and a special 'Thank you' to those that may have added some of them to their favorites, Sig...

My brother-in-law served there during the war, wonder if he would recognize this spot. Amazing that you can retrieve images taken 40 years ago!!! Quite an historical image!

Excellent image Sig, very atmospheric, I like the light patch where it looks like a pathway around the coastline, not a bad job at all from a 40 year old slide. Superb work and narrative. Bravo!!!!!

I worked with those ex Navy Deep Freeze C-118's. They were one of the types replaced by the C-9A "Nightingale." Not smooth, but a nice shine when buffed. I have never seen many pictures of the triple canopies and triple cloud decks of Viet Nam.
