Description

So here we have a lovely 'family' portrait - a sort of tribute if you will to Father's Day (this Sunday!). There's 'dad' and 'mom' and the 'two kids' - a happy dragon and a happy lion. (OK - it's supposed to sybolize my little family - wish I looked like the lovely lady in this picture! Ah well...) With regard to the title... I wanted to come up with something a bit creative. 'Family portrait' seemed a bit blah. Then it hit me. 'Kith and Kin'. So what does this mean, you might ask? Kin stems from the Middle English word 'cynn' meaning race, kind or people. It's a derivative of the word 'kindred' meaning related by birth or (incorrectly) marriage. Kin refers to one's relatives collectively. Kith literally means knowledge of etiquette (believe it or not) but has come to mean familiar friends, neighbors, countrymen or acquaintances. The term kith and kin means one's relations and/or family connections. It seemed rather appropriate for this lovely and unusual 'family'. :) I used Poser 6 and Photoshop CS3 to create this picture.
