Description

This is the Oahu replica of the 950-year-old Byodo-in Temple found in Uji (on the southern outskirts of Kyoto), Japan. It sits against a typical Pacific island jagged mountain range that is usually covered with clouds. The replica was built in the 1960's to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the arrival of the first Japanese immigrant workers who came to Hawaii to work in the sugar plantation fields.
