It looks like a baby mourning dove, but it's hard to tell. We get the babies in our backyard, and I have to go save them once in a while. As babies they don't know any better about the cats, unfortunately. ;o)

Sure hope mom and dad can find it and continue to feed it and keep it safe. Neighborhood cats that wander can wipe out any decent bird population in a largely populated area. I lived in one subdivision that was built in the middle of a pasture and yet, 5 years after the last house in the subdivision was sold, there was only a few crows and blue jays left. This is a darling baby. the coloring does suggestion it is a baby dove but without seeing the back, tail and note the general size I couldn't be positive. Wonderful shot and I'm glad your kids are quick. :-)
