Description
The Larinda, an 86 foot modified replica of a schooner built in Boston in 1767, was a member of the group of Tall Ships that toured the Great Lakes in 2001. We set up our tripods on Lake Erie's rocky shore to photograph the parade.

The Larinda looks like a fine, sturdy ship. Not very big but a real workhorse. I am from the area where the Elyssa is is docked (Galveson)and it seems much bigger. the Elyssa isElissa is a three-masted iron barque built in 1877 by Alexander Hall and it is kept in phenominal shape by its crew of dedicated volunteers. This is a fabulous shot of a sister ship and being on Lake Erie makes it even more special, at least to me. I lived 2 blocks from Lake Erie until I turned 11 years old. :-)

An interesting mix of rigs! What I find puzzling is the wind direction indicated by the flag. That makes the vessel appear to be sailing directly into wind which ordinarily would be impossible under sail alone unless of course she was moving under power. Fine shot!!!
